Man Found Hanging At Police Station Building

SECURITY AT KIMBERLEY POLICE STATION CAST INTO SPOTLIGHT FOLLOWING AN APPARENT SUICIDE INCIDENT 

Kimberley - Police bosses are set to be taken to task over a lack of security and surveillance cameras at Kimberley's largest police station situated in Phakamile Mabija Road. 

According to insiders this morning's discovery of a man's body hanging from a section of the building has fuelled concerns raised in the past. Police have opened an inquest docket and are investigating how the deceased had gained access to the building.

"The provincial building is well secured whilst a building which houses units such as the serious and violent crimes unit and others is not being taken care of," lamented the source. 

"The incident has left us embarrassed," the source added.

PASTOR ARRESTED FOR RAPE

FREE STATE – The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Bloemfontein assisted by members of 10111 arrested a 54-year-old suspect on Sunday, 20 June 2021. It is alleged that on Friday, 18 June 2021, the victim was offered domestic work and to also look after a 4-year-old son at the house of the suspect, who is known to be a pastor. The victim was reportedly informed by the suspect that he will be attending a church service in Thaba Nchu during the night and that she must look after his son on Friday, 18 June 2021. However the suspect allegedly remained in the house that night and forced himself to the victim repeatedly raping her throughout Friday and Saturday nights respectively.  The victim managed to get hold of the suspect’s cell phone on Sunday, 20 June 2021 and immediately called the South African Police Service (SAPS) toll free 10111, seeking assistance. WANTED SUSPECTS ARRESTED ACROSS GAUTENG PROVINCE

A gang that is alleged to be responsible for car hijacking and robbing people of their bank cards is among 1460 people arrested by Gauteng police over the weekend Gauteng police have arrested more than 1460 suspects during crime prevention operations and raiding of wanted suspects conducted over the weekend. The suspects were found to have committed offences that include car hijacking, murder, attempted murder, rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of unlicensed firearm, dealing in drugs, driving while under the influence of alcohol, armed robbery and possession of suspected stolen property. Among those arrested were four suspects that allegedly belong to a gang responsible for car hijackings and armed robberies in the south of Johannesburg.
