BROKER ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED FRAUD AND THEFT

  GAUTENG – Zama Precious Ngubane (39) appeared in the Tsakane Magistrates Court facing charges of fraud and theft yesterday. It is alleged that in April last year, three clients had a consultation at a Nedbank branch in Tsakane to invest an amount of R1.7 million collectively.  During the consultation, clients were allegedly referred to a private investment broker, Ngubane who is the Director at Ezamankomo (PTY) Ltd. Ngubane allegedly promised guaranteed lucrative dividends the potential investors will receive for the five year investment plan at her company. The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation successfully traced and apprehended Ngubane in Springs yesterday and charged her with fraud and theft. Ngubane appeared in the Tsakane Magistrates Court on the same day and granted R3000 bail. The case is postponed to Monday, 14 June 2021 for the matter to be transferred to Tsakane Regional Court. 

FAKE DOCTORS ARRESTED

KWAZULU-NATAL - KwaMashu Detectives together Crime Intelligence embarked on an intelligence operation in the KwaMashu and surrounding areas and arrested two friends. The friends who posed as doctors by issuing fraudulent medical certificate will appear on Monday, 14 June 2021 in the Ntuzuma Magistrates’ Court for fraud. Yesterday at 10:30, the police proceeded to KwaMashu P Section after receiving information about people who were issuing fraudulent medical certificates and were charging an amount of R50 per person. One of the police officers posed as a customer and approached the two suspects aged 38 and 47 who wasted no time and issued him the medical certificate.  After acquiring their service, the officer introduced himself, searched the suspects and were found in possession of several blank medical certificates from private doctors and public hospitals around the province. They were arrested and charged for fraud.

3 killers get sentenced for murder , attempted murder and aggravated robbery

EASTERN CAPE - The Grahamstown High Court today 10/6 sentenced three males for murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.  The three accused Luzuko Msweli (30) and Mabuthi Bless (35) were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years for attempted murder and 15 years for aggravated robbery.  Nkosinathi Sokutu was sentenced to 25 years for murder, 15 years for attempted murder and 15 years for aggravated robbery.  On 9 March 2020, a herdsman Bulelani Tshaka (38), at the Spioenkop farm in Alexandria witnesses the trio trying to steal a weaned calf.  As soon as he noticed that they had seen him, he walked off. They called out to him and he continued to get away, however they managed to catch up to him. They started to assault him by hitting him numerous times with the side of a spade, resulting in him sustaining numerous open wounds in his face, head, body and legs.  He managed to run away and hid in nearby bushes. The party confirmed that it had received a strike notice in accordance with labour relations of the planned industrial action. The ANC has been experiencing repeated challenges of late salary payments for several months now. Workers are expected to picket at Luthuli House and all provincial and regional offices. In a statement, the ANC said that although it had informed staff that it was attending to the cash flow problems, the feeling of grievance around worker's conditions of employment had reached a critical point.

SEVEN NABBED FOR "GHOST VENDING"

FREE STATE - Seven suspects between the age of 28 and 67 were arrested at the crack of dawn by a multidisciplinary team that swooped in on various premises in Gauteng. The joint team traced and disrupted the criminal network responsible for large-scale pre-paid electricity fraud and theft.  Their arrests were effected during the first phase of the project driven investigation carried out by the Free State Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in concert with Eskom Investigators, Hawks Digital Forensic Investigation (DFI), Tactical Response Team (TRT), Public Order Policing (POP) as well as Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC). This project driven investigation ensued in May 2020 in Bloemfontein, Free State probing the illicit sale of electricity facilitated by illegal vendors who have in their possession illegal electricity vending machines. ‘Ghost vending’ involves the illegal sales and purchases of electricity.   The syndicates reportedly operate in groups nationally and g

16 YEAR OLD ARRESTED FOR BEING IN POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL FIREARM

WESTERN CAPE - Our focus to significantly reduce the number of firearms in the wrong hands in this province, has led to the arrest of a 16 year old male during police interventions in Lentegeur, Mitchells plain yesterday (Tuesday 2021-06-08). Observant members were busy with patrols when they responded to intelligence driven information. As they approached a local shop in Firethorn Street, they found the suspect armed with a 9mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition. The boy could not produce a valid licence to be in possession of such a firearm, and was arrested. Once charged, he is expected make a court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate court.
