PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA TAKES COUNTRY TO LEVEL 4

Cape Town – South Africa will move to adjusted Level 4 as the country is faced with a rising number of Covid-19 infections dominated by the more transmissible Delta variant, President Ramaphosa said. “What we are seeing is that the existing containment measures in place are not enough to cope with the speed and the scale of the infections we are experiencing under this third wave,” Ramaphosa said in a televised address. “Cabinet has decided that the country should move to adjusted alert level four.” Ramaphosa said the additional restrictions will be in place for the next 14 days. All gatherings, indoors and outdoors were prohibited, he said. Public places like beaches and parks remain open, but no gatherings are permitted. DOUBLE MURDER SUSPECT WANTED

EASTERN CAPE - Police are seeking assistance of the community in tracing a 35-year-old male suspect Mxolisi Skosana also known as "Ngobe" in relation to a double murder that occurred on 06 June 2021, in Ngubengcuka Location, at Mthontsasa. A warrant of arrest was issued by the court for the arrest of the suspect. Members of the Community are warned not attempt to arrest the wanted suspect as he is believed to be armed, dangerous and a threat to society. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION

KWAZULU-NATAL: A total of four men aged between 23 and 47 are set to appear before Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday, 28 June 2021 for being in unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as for being in possession of suspected stolen property. Yesterday, a multi-disciplinary intelligence driven operation which was conducted in Mayville yielded positive results. The team was following up on information after a house was broken into in the Scottburgh CBD and various items were stolen. A search warrant was obtained for the residence at Mayville in Durban. The team proceeded to the Mayville residence as information indicated that the stolen items were on the premises. A search warrant was executed and over five thousand rounds of ammunition, a rifle, seven cellular phones, two magazines, a rifle as well as diamonds and jewellery were seized. The suspects have been detained pending their court appearance.

TWO RHINO HORN DEALERS ARRESTED WITH 2.4MILLION VALUE HORNS

NORTH WEST – Two suspects aged 31 and 72 were arrested in Vryburg on Thursday by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for dealing in Rhino horns. The pair were arrested during a buy and bust operation where they allegedly attempted to sell Rhino horns. The suspects’ vehicle was searched and two Rhino horns worth approximately R2.4 million were found. Both Rhino horns were seized for further investigation. Meanwhile, the suspects will make their first appearance before the Vryburg Magistrate’s court on Monday, 28 June 2021.

8 SUSPECTS NABBED FOR SERIOUS CRIMES

EASTERN CAPE - Police arrested five wanted suspects aged between 27 and 43 on Tuesday, 22 June 2021 in Cradock. It is believed that the suspects headed for Cape Town in an attempt to flee the province as they are linked to a range of cases which include Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and Attempted Murder which occurred around Engcobo and Cofimvaba areas. In a separate incident, police arrested three male suspects aged between 30 and 52 for armed Business Robbery that occurred in the shopping centre on Tuesday, 22 June 2021 at Komani. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga appreciated the work of all the forces involved in the operation as well as the community that is working very closely with the police to ensure peace and stability in the Province. TWO IN COURT FOR MURDER

NORTH WEST - Arthus Khoza (18) and Mahlatsi Nkuna (20) appeared today before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder. They will remain in custody until their next court appearance on Wednesday, 30 June 2021. Their court appearance emanated from an incident wherein an unidentified male body was found inside a burnt Hyundai i20 vehicle at a soccer field in Ikageng Section, Klipgat on Thursday, 17 June 2021, at approximately 07:00. Initial police investigations led the police investigation team to a house in Phutha Section, Klipgat on Monday, 21 June 2021. The house was searched and in one of the bedrooms, the team found blood stains on the floor, under and on top of a bed as well as on the carpet. Furthermore, an axe suspected to have been used during the commission of this crime, was found on top of the roof of the house.  After this gruesome discovery, investigations led to the tracing and arrest of two suspects.
