EIGHT SYNDICATE MEMBERS NABBED FOR DEALING IN DRUGS

NORTHERN CAPE – A multidisciplinary team comprising of the Northern Cape Hawks’, Crime Intelligence, Tactical Response Team, Kimberley K9, Flying squad, Local Criminal Record Centre and Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit has led to the arrest of eight suspects for allegedly dealing in drugs.
 
The syndicate members aged 20 to 55 were apprehended in the early hours of this morning in different locations around Kimberley area during a takedown operation.

This major investigation started in July 2019 after information was received about a syndicate dealing in narcotics in Galeshewe, Roodepan and Beaconsfield. The team spent several months monitoring the activities of the group. During the course of the investigation, eleven undercover transactions were made with the members of the syndicate.  Mandrax and Tik to the value of R471 000 were allegedly purchased from the syndicate members.

During the search and seizure operation, mandrax tablets and Tik with an estimated value of R208 680 were confiscated. Three vehicles and ten cell phones to the value of R396 000 as well as cash of over an amount of R85 000 were also confiscated.
 
All suspects are expected to appear before Kimberley Magistrate court on Friday, 30 April 2021.

The Directorate of the Priority Crime Investigation’s Provincial Head in the Northern Cape, Major General Kholekile Galawe applauded the multi-disciplinary team for the sterling work. “This will send out a strong message to those who participate in drug trafficking in our province”.
