CREATIVITY MEANING

Introduction
What is Creativity?

Creativity is an ability, a skill that, to some people might come naturally whereas to some, it improves with time. Creativity simply means thinking something out of the box. Everybody imagines but not everyone can turn dreams into realities unless they don’t want to. A creative mind allows you to develop ideas out of the imagination. This is a skill that originates in our brain.

Now, what is Critical Thinking?

Critical thinking is the skill to think things clearly and the logic behind them. Critical thinking requires deep analysis, constant observation, evaluation, and decision making. Critical thinking is, critically identifying an issue. Critical thinking helps you to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of a particular argument.

A lot of people often get confused between creativity and critical thinking. Now that you have read the exact meaning of these two skills, I hope you’re clear. Creativity is a skill that can be learned and improved. Creativity is a capability of the brain and it doesn’t mean that creativity is path-breaking ideas. Creativity is thinking and imagination whereas critical thinking exploring inside your creativity and recognizing the strengths and weaknesses. Critical thinking means analyzing your creative ideas and bringing the best out of them.

Differences

Here are some key differences between creativity and critical thinking

Creativity is creating and dreaming about something new. Now, critical thinking is, implementing your dreams, which already exist, into reality.

Creativity is generative; one that is capable of generating itself but critical thinking is a research process. It needs researching and analyzing abilities.

Creativity is more visual, you imagine things and you’re creative. Critical thinking is more of a verbal process that requires observation, research, communication, etc.

Creativity and critical thinking are different words having different meanings but they are strongly interconnected. The 21st century is quite challenging, for this youths should be creative and generate ideas towards the problem and after that, they require to become critical, it means now that they have creative ideas, it’s the time to implement them using their critical ability.

One won’t work without the other. For example, Mark Zuckerberg had a creative idea of creating Facebook at the age of 19; this was his creative thinking. Now that, he already had an idea of Facebook, he analyzed and researched a lot, then after he launched Facebook. He launched Facebook using his critical thinking. If he was only creative and didn’t know what to do after generating an idea, till today we wouldn’t know what Facebook was.

Bottom line

Only generating possibilities is not enough to help you solve problems. Both generating and focusing are different but they go hand to hand. If you only rely on critical thinking, you couldn’t generate many possibilities and if you only reply on generating you cannot complete the task effectively. Hence, people require both creativity and critical thinking together.
