MISSING BOY FOUND DEAD IN SEWAGE DAM



The Patriotic Alliance is supporting the family of Kgaogelo Mogweng from DaniĆ«lskuil who went missing and were found death yesterday. After a search of approximately 24 hours, the body of the 13-year-old were found floating in the sewerage ponds behind the new stands in Thlakalathlou. The family of the Grade 6 learner were alerted to his body by a group of children who were part of a search team. Kgaogelo went missing on Wednesday, 16 June 2021.  A day later, at approx. 11:00 in the morning, the children spotted a sock and one flip-flop on the banks of the sewerage ponds and after closer investigation, his body were seen floating in a sewerage pond.

Community members complained bitterly about this ungated sewerage ponds behind Thlakalathlou. They alleged that another child drowned in March at same pond.  Because of the proximity of the ponds and the unhindered access, children would often play in the vicinity of the ponds. A community member also pointed out an old fridge that are used as a canoe by community children. 
The parents of Kgaogelo were too heartbroken and spoke via their religious leader ,Reverend TW Sidumo from the Dutch Reformed Church in Africa described the family as ‘shattered’ over the death of their only child. 

On Friday,18 June 2021, a small delegation of the Patriotic Alliance paid a sympathy visit to the family. Police are still investigating the incident. The funeral arrangements were not known at time of going to press.
