Zuma arrest: Bheki Cele, police delegation ‘to visit Nkandla today

’A delegation of senior police officers led by Police Minister Bheki Cele will visit Nkandla on Wednesday. The deadline for police to apprehend former president Jacob Zuma expires at midnight.

Two sources have said that detail of the minister’s visit will not be made public. “The minister is in Durban today and will possibly be driven to Nkandla by noon. Another police delegation was headed to KwaZulu-Natal this morning,” said one source.

Meanwhile, another source close to Cele confirmed that the minister was in the province. “The minister of police is in KwaZulu-Natal. It could be that he's on his way to Nkandla today,” the source added.

According to information, the police have been finalising their plans for Wednesday’s planned arrest since Tuesday.

Cele’s spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba, confirmed that Cele is in the province, but did not want to divulge details of a possible Cele visit. “He’s in KwaZulu-Natal. That’s all I can say,”

Supporters of Zuma are expected to gather at the former president’s homestead on Wednesday.

A vendor selling ANC merchandise was seen outside Nkandla early on Wednesday morning, preparing for supporters’ arrival throughout the course of the day.
