POLICE COMMISSIONER KHEHLA SITOLE REPORT OF "JULY UNREST"



JOHANNESBURG - National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole has been questioned about an intelligence report about the July unrest, which Police Minister Bheki Cele said he never received.
Kehla Sithole is back in the witness seat on Tuesday, testifying at the inquiry looking into to the riots.

Sithole said there was an early warning report received but there was no need to send it to the minister at the time, saying it was a just a normal routine intelligence report.

"There is no specific intelligence report, except in the intelligent report if there is something contained that requires me to bring that particular aspect to the attention of the minister".

In his statement, Cele said during the time of the unrest, he visited affected areas with the deputy national commissioner, and provincial commissioner saying Sitole was nowhere to be found.

More than 300 people died during the unrest that emanated from the widespread looting that took place in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

6 LIFE SENTENCE FOR 27YEAR OLD

DURBAN - The Mtunzini High Court has sentenced a 27-year-old man to six terms of life and 142 years’ imprisonment on Friday for multiple rapes and robberies in Nongoma and uMlazi. Lindokuhle Zungu was convicted of rape, housebreaking with intent to commit rape and robberies.
