THE STORY OF MASEGO VENGA, A YOUNG WOMAN SUFFERING FROM MACROMASTIA

Masego Venga is 24 year old young lady from Ganyesa Village in the North West Province.
Masego is suffering from an unusual condition called Macromastia.
Macromastia is the condition of having abnormally large breasts.

It all started  in 2019 when she started experiencing sharp pains on both of her shoulders, she was a first-year student at the North West University in Mahikeng at the time.

Masego says since then, her breasts had become so large to an extent that she can't perform simple chores, she also experience severe neck and back pains day and night, standing and sitting for longer periods is a major challenge for her making it difficult for her to get a job.

She took a step of going to her nearest Clinic, She then was referred to Phatsima Hospital in Ganyesa,
later referred to Tshepong Hospital in Klerksdorp where she was admitted in February 2021.
After a while she was then transferred to Chris Hani- Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg on March 6 and the Doctor in attendance informed her that she should lose weight before she could get her breasts operated.
She was told to reduce her body weight to 70kg,which is almost impossible.

"This is a daily nightmare in my life, I have bruises and blisters between my breasts which causes painful wounds, I don't even have a bra size"
"I would like to find out if there any government institution or relevant people that can assist to get surgery for my breasts"
She said

Masego is from a very poor family.
She is the only one who has managed to finish Matric and register at a University.
She has been raised by a single mother, who is a domestic worker.
