HIGH DENSITY OPERATIONS GAINS MOMENTUM IN NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE


Numerous high density operations across the province is gaining momentum through upscale visible policing and disruptive actions including roadblocks, vehicle check points, stop and searches, patrolling of Hotspot areas, compliance inspections to second hand goods and scrapyard dealers, liquor premisses, school visits and awareness campaigns for the period 05-08 June 2023.


Some of the highlights of the successes achieved in the five districts namely Frances Baard, ZF Mgcawu, Namakwa, JTG and Pixley Ka Seme are as follows.


Numerous intelligence driven actions were executed in Prieska by the De Aar Public Order Policing unit, Provincial Organized unit, Crime Intelligence, De Aar K9, Highway Patrol and Immigration Services, where multi-disciplinary team raided a Wholesale and Retail store , where a substanial amount alleged counterfeit goods were confiscated.


The ZF Mgcawu Cluster Team and K9 unit in Upington pounced on an adult female and arrested her for skunk dagga worth about R71 000,00.


In the Namakwa District the Springbok Crime Intelligence and K9 unit executed two search warrants in Buffelsrivier and Kommagas at alleged drug houses and arrested five suspects and confiscated an undisclosed amount of Mandrax tablets, Tik and Dagga.


The Frances Baard District executed ongoing compliance inspections during the disruptive operations in Windsorton and confiscated a substantial amount of liquor and closed down an illegal shebeen.


The lightning fast response of Prieska police to alleged stock theft ensured two male suspects being caught red handed while slaughtering two Dorper sheep valued at about R5000.


In the JTG district, the Kathu dumping site was visited by the Kathu SAPS Social Crime Coordinator, Sector Commander and Safety volunteers where they engaged and interacted with community members at the site educating and sensitising them on substance abuse and distributed safety pamphlets.


Stations also conducted random vehicle check points to address traffic transgressions and focus on the transportation of stolen goods, illegal firearms and drugs.


The high density operations will continue and more boots on the ground will ensure increased visibilty in all hot spot areas in an attempt to reclaim the community from









criminals.
