16YEARS OF CLOSED MOUTH

THE LIFE of a 21-year-old student from Pampierstad was changed after a seven-hour operation at Lenmed Royal Hospital and Heart Centre in Kimberley on Saturday, which made it possible for her to open her mouth for the first time in 16 years. The student, who survived a serious accident at the age of five, can now open her mouth from 0 to 5cm. The patient underwent a bilateral temporomandibular joints (TMJ) operation, performed by maxillofacial surgeon Dr Irshaad Abdoola and his team, on Saturday. The procedure included bilateral TMJ gap arthroplasty with interpositional grafts, abdominal fat harvesting and bilateral coronoidectomies. This was the first procedure of this magnitude performed at Lenmed hospital in Kimberley. The definitive surgical management is planned as a two-stage procedure, separated by approximately three months of healing time. NORTHERN CAPE HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNVEILED NEW FLEET OF AMBULANCES

The Northern Cape MEC for Health, Maruping Lekwene, unveiled new emergency medical services vehicles that will be distributed across the Province. THIRTY emergency medical services vehicles – 20 ambulances and 10 patient transporter vehicles – were launched by the Northern Cape Department of Health on Tuesday to assist with emergency cases in the Province. The MEC for Health, Maruping Lekwene, said the new vehicles will enable emergency medical services (EMS) to respond faster to emergencies. “This launch takes place where we have just identified the Omicron virus. However, people must not panic as more research is being conducted by researchers to give more accurate information. POLICE COMMISSIONER KHEHLA SITOLE REPORT OF "JULY UNREST"

JOHANNESBURG - National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole has been questioned about an intelligence report about the July unrest, which Police Minister Bheki Cele said he never received. Kehla Sithole is back in the witness seat on Tuesday, testifying at the inquiry looking into to the riots. Sithole said there was an early warning report received but there was no need to send it to the minister at the time, saying it was a just a normal routine intelligence report. "There is no specific intelligence report, except in the intelligent report if there is something contained that requires me to bring that particular aspect to the attention of the minister". In his statement, Cele said during the time of the unrest, he visited affected areas with the deputy national commissioner, and provincial commissioner saying Sitole was nowhere to be found. LONG SERVING RIFLEMAN HONOURED WITH A RANK OF A SERGEANT

Chief of the SA Army bestows a sergeant's rank on long serving Rifleman.  The Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Lawrence Mbatha honoured Rifleman Isaac Mudau for his 41-year longstanding and selfless service to the country with the rank of Sergeant.  In a gesture that sought to redress the injustice of having Rifleman Mudau serve for over four decades in uniform without a rank to show for it, the Military Command Council approved the SA Army's recommendation to have Rifleman Mudau to promoted to the rank of Sergeant with effect from 01 April 2021. Lieutenant General Mbatha not only honoured Sergeant Mudau, but he also expressed his sincere apology for the injustice meted against this long serving soldier and patriot. SEVEN BODIES FOUND WITH BULLET WOUNDS

Residents of Makause informal settlement in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, woke up on Monday morning to find bullet-riddled bodies of seven people at different parts of their settlement. The killers are not yet known and police are investigating. Spokesperson for the Gauteng police, Colonel Kay Makhubele, said information at their disposal was that there was a shooting in the morning at the informal settlement. "Later when people [came] out of their houses, they saw the bodies." Makhubele said the bodies were not next to each other and were found at different parts of the informal settlement. He could not confirm the genders of the deceased, but said all of them were over the age of 30. He also said they did not have weapons on them, and it was also not yet known if they lived in the area. SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL GUNS

On 29 November 2021, Postmasburg Crime Prevention members followed up on information they received about a male person who is alleged to be in possession of illegal firearms . The team of led by Capt Neville Ruiter attended to information with a search warrant and found a male at the identified address in Marantheng in Postmasburg.  Two handguns were found hidden in a laundry bucket. One of the firearms found was reported stolen in the Eastern Cape in 2016. The suspect was also found in possession of SANDF uniform. The suspect was arrested for Unlawful Possession of firearms and will soon appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate Court. PUBLIC ORDER POLICE DISCOVERS FIREARMS

WESTERN CAPE - To ensure a safer environment for the community, Public Order Policing members were deployed in areas of concern today to clamp down on lawlessness. These deployments were rewarded with the arrest of suspects who were caught in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. This morning, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Town 2 Khayelitsha after he was found in possession of an unlicensed 6.35 pistol without a serial number. Also in Town 2, another suspect was arrested in possession of a variety of ammunition without a license. While on foot patrol in Harare, the members seized a homemade firearm and one round of ammunition that were found abandoned.   In Lingelethu West, a 41-year-old man was arrested in possession of an unlicensed 38 Special revolver and ammunition, while a 24-year-old man was arrested in possession of an imitation firearm, SANDF uniform and ammunition.  Once charged, the suspects are all expected to make their court appearan
